The boulder
It is hard
and impenetrable.
It gives way
to no creature.
The stone
It is stoic
and indifferent.
It rarely betrays
any emotion.
The geode
It is rough
and deceitful.
Its demeanor
differs from its guise.
The pebble
It is fickle
and oscillating.
Its allegiance
depends on the circumstance.
The sand grains
They are tiny
and infinitesimal.
They fall and
cannot be retrieved.
The fine powder
It is soft
and precious.
The wind scatters
it forever.
It is gone.
